Religious Education Schedules & Policies

Sacred Heart’s religious education program is a cooperative effort of parents, teachers and youth which provides active learning in the celebration of our Catholic faith and through the formation of Christian education and values.

Expectations of Parents
As the primary religious educators of their children, parents are expected to be supportive of our program by encouraging and reinforcing the learning process at home.

We expect parents to have their children at CCD on time and pick them up promptly at dismissal — 5:00 PM – elementary students — 7:45 PM – Jr. / Sr. High student. Call if a student is going to be absent. Provide written permission for early dismissal. Use caution when driving in school area and escort first and second graders at times of arrival and dismissal.

Expectations of Students
Attend class with an attitude of cooperation and a willingness to actively participate. Respect the rights and property of others

Parents must be registered members of Sacred Heart parish for a student to be admitted in the religious education program. There is a registration fee of $15.00 per child with a family limit of $30.00. Returning students are sent registration letters in July. New student registration is conducted during the last week of July.

Every effort should be made to avoid absences. Call 384-8108 if your child is going to be absent. Habitual tardiness will require parent consultation. Elementary parents are required to report to the office and sign-in students who arrive after 4:00 PM. Recognition will be given for outstanding attendance.

Student evaluations will be mailed to parents during the month of November. These evaluations must be signed and returned to the teachers.

Religious education information will be published in the parish bulletin.

Administrative Policies
Parents will be notified when a student is sent to the office. A conference (student, parent and pastor) will be required if a student is sent to the office a second time. Medication cannot be dispensed at CCD. We are a drugfree zone. No smoking, dipping, alcohol, weapons or narcotics are allowed on the school property. Once on the premises, students are not permitted to leave the school grounds. If the weather is such that the parish schools are closed for the day, then CCD will automatically be cancelled for that day. In keeping with school regulations, students are not allowed to have cell phones at CCD. Phones will be confiscated. We have phones available in the office if the need arises.

Signature Page
We are required to have an information sheet for every student on file in our office. They are given out at the first class. Parents and students are required to sign acknowledging they have read, agree and will abide by the policies listed.
